Son of Daniel and Mary {Rowland} Brace. When he was four years old his parents moved to Luzerne County PA. where he grew to manhood.
He married Phebe Munson on Feb.14,1833. In 1836 he, his wife and two children travelled by wagon to Illinois. It took them six long weeks on the road.In 1839 they settled in what became Stark Co. Illinois. He became one of the new countys most prominent citizens. Was a member of the State Legislature.
They had eleven children Caroline, Anna, Clare V, Charles H, Mary M, Rebecca J, Iantha, Myrtle M, Lucy, Orlando, and Lucy.
