Daughter of Rudolf MacLeod and Margaretha Zelle (later known as the Oriental dancer, courtesan, and alleged German spy, Mata Hari who was executed by a French firing squad on 15th October 1917 after a dubious trial). 'Non' died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage a few days before she was supposed to leave to become a schoolteacher in the Dutch East Indies. Congenital syphilis was the actual cause of the aneurism that killed her.
Her grave marked simply 'Our Non', her father did not want the tombstone to identify himself and Mata Hari as her parents.
