City Councilman Dies at Gaffney
Gaffney Aug 17 —(Special)— Ellie Roland Parker, 66, Gaffney city councilman and former Cherokee County coroner and tax collector, died 3:10 p.m. today at his home here after two weeks of illness.
A native and life-long resident of this county, Mr. Parker operated a bicycle shop and cafe for many years. He was elected to a third term as councilman.
Funeral services will be held at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon from Shuford-Hatcher Mortuary chapel conducted by Dr. R. A. MarFarland and Dr. D. M. Rivers/ Burial will follow in Oakland cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lillian Campbell Parker; three sons, Raymond, Wilkes and Eugene Parker; four daughters, Mrs. R. L. Burns, mrs. O. M. Mullinax, Mrs. M. M. Wetzel and Mrs. J. D. Greene; a brother Tolleson Parker of Inman and a sister, Mrs Eva P. Knox.
