Wiley Carroll Earley, Sr., age 82, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Fred and Bertha Hamlett Earley. He was also preceded in death by a son, Wiley Carroll Earley, Jr., who died in 2002; two sisters, Elsie Elders and Shirley Rickman. He retired from Champion International with 19 years of service. Bud loved listening to country music and watching westerns. Growing up, he enjoyed breeding and riding his pleasure horses. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II.
He is survived by a sister, Patsy Hoglen and her husband, Mark, of Asheville and a brother, Melvin Earley and his wife, Beth, of Clyde.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronald McMahan officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice or to Bon-A-Venture Maintenance Fund, 32 Rhoda Street, Canton, NC 28716.
