News was received in Harrisonburg yesterday announcing the death of Walter Arey, of New Erection, a Private in Company D, Second Virginia Regiment at Camp McClellan, Anniston, Alabama. No details of his death were received, but his body will be shipped here for burial.
Mr. Arey was a young man about 30 years of age, and enlisted on April 22, 1917, along with John Logan and others from this city.
For sometime Mr. Arey was cook in his company, but what office he held at the time of his death could not be learned.
The body of Mr. Arey will likely arrive in this city today or tomorrow and the boys from Anniston, Alabama, have ordered through the L.H. Ott Drug Company of this place flowers costing in the neighborhood of twelve dollars.
