Funeral Services For Homer H. Samples Held Yesterday
Funeral services for Homer H. Samples, who lost his life in a fire Monday morning, were held yesterday at the Coleman Mortuary with Rev. Paul Kirk of the Temple Baptist Church officiating. Internment was at Graceland Cemetery.
Samples was found dead last Monday morning at the Lincoln Auto Court of first, second and third degree burns. The mattress of the bed had caught fire during the night and smoldered for some hours. Smoking a cigarette in bed is believed to have been the cause.
Neighbors notice the smoke poring from the window and the La Habra Fire Dept. was called. Samples was pronounced dead by a local doctor after, the fire in the mattress had been extinguished.
He is survived by one son, Homer H. Samples, Jr. of La Habra; two daughters, Shirley Ann and Dixie Lavada of Pacific Beach and his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Samples.
