Lillian Grace D. Currier graduated in 1878, from the Hillside School, Boston, MA, at the age of 15.

In 1902, Lillian listed her address as 204 Chestnut Avenue, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, in the Appalachian Mountain Club's annual register, headquarted in Boston. Interestingly as a side note, in 1896 the club moved from its original Ticknor Mansion location, to the Tremont Building, which also housed the offices of her step-son's engineering business, W.B. Smith Whaley & Company.

Having never married, at age 44, on April 4, 1907 in Boston, she became the second wife of William Baynard Whaley,Jr. The two soon returned to reside in Charleston, SC in his family home at 99 Broad Street.

[William's first wife, Helen, died in 1906 from typhoid fever at age 59, in Charleston, SC.]
