Mr. Carl Freeman Shirley, 77, of Avante Nursing Care, Wilkesboro, died Wed nesday, Feb. 22, 2006, in Wilkesboro.
He was born March 4, 1928 in Watauga County, a son of Mary Greene Achterki rchen and the late Harvey Rollen Shirley.
Mr. Shirley was a retired sawmill operator and a member of Stony Fork Bapt ist Church.
He is survived by a dear friend, Betty Whitley of Hayes; his wife, Bert ha Greene Shirley of the home; four daughters, Vickie Miller and husban d, David, of Wilkesboro, Linda Pariseau and husband, Raymond, of Boone, Be tty Miller and husband, Payge, of Stony Fork, Libby Miller and husband, Ro nnie, of Boone; his mother, Mary Greene Achterkirchen of Madison, N.C.; t wo granddaughters, Brittney Trivette and husband, Wayne, and Tenessia Isaa cs, all of Boone; one grandson, Joe Greene and wife, Kimberly, of Deep Ga p; four great-grandsons, Ethan Greene and Elijah Greene, both of Deep Ga p; Logan Trivette and Preston Trivette, both of Boone. A number of niec es and nephews also survive.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Mar ie Shirley and Evelyn Sue Shirley; one son, Carl Freeman Shirley, Jr.; o ne sister, Ruby Simmons; and one nephew, Jerry Tolbert.
Services were conducted Saturday morning, Feb. 25, at Stony Fork Baptist C hurch. Officiating were the Rev. Vernon Eller and the Rev. Sherrill Wellb orn. Burial followed in the Stony Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.
Hampton Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
