Mr. Reed Morris Greene, age 90, of 4666 Wildcat Road, Deep Gap died Friday August 25 at Glenbridge Health Care. Born August 13, 1916 in Watauga County, Mr. Greene was a son of the late Copna H. and Fannie Norris Greene and the husband of Nellie Fay Greene of the home.
Mr. Greene was a retired farmer and timber cutter and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Surviving other than his wife are two daughters; Reba Watson and husband Sid of Deep Gap; Marie Trivette and husband Dwane of Fleetwood; five sons; Kenneth L. Greene and wife Sadie of Deep Gap; Clayton M. Greene and wife Ailene of Fleetwood; Reverend Bobby C. Greene and wife Linda of Lenoir; Rex H. Greene and wife Christine of Deep Gap; Ottis D. Greene and wife Patti of Deep Gap; two brothers; Ralph Greene of Triplett; Buster Greene of Lenoir; three sisters; Mary Archterkichen of Madison, Va; Doris Smith of Lenoir; Dollie Jordan of Deep Gap;19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Earl Greene, Jr.; three sisters, Dennis Payne, Ruth Greene, Bonnie Smith; and one granddaughter, Carolyn Greene.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, August 28, 2006 at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Reverend Sherrill Welborne, Reverend Rich Cornejo and Reverend Randall Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Mount View Baptist Church Cemetery in Deep Gap. The family will receive friends at Hampton Funeral Service Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 7 until 9 PM.
