Barbara Ann "Babs" Brizendine, 56, of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday morning November 23, 2010. She was born on March 3, 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nettie Brizendine and her baby brother, Michael. Barbara was employed with Burger King for 27 years and Panera Bread for 4 years. Surviving are her loving son and best buddy, Taylor Brizendine; twin sister, Bonnie (Rick) Petty with whom she resided; sisters, Joyce Dorton of Roanoke, Alice Goodin of Kentucky and Becky (Harvey) Riley of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, especially the nurses on the tenth floor Oncology Unit, and all the family and friends for their love and support at this very difficult time. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by Chaplain Lisa Meyer. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home, 366-0707.
