Martha Besemer, 98, of the Milton Home, formerly of North Hickory Road, Granger, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2002, in the Milton Home.
Born May 19, 1903, Faurndau-Goeppingen, Germany, to the late Jacob and Rosine (Kolbus) Schehrer. Also preceding in death were her six sisters. She immigrated to the United States in 1922 from Germany. On May 4, 1927 in Manhattan, New York, she married William Frederick Besemer who died in 1983.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemarie E. Hofferbert (Richard) of Vestal, New York; and son, W. James Besemer (Lorraine "Lorrie") of South Bend; five grandchildren, Mark Hofferbert (Lorri) of Trumansburg, New York, Sam Hofferbert (Darby) of Wilmington, Del., James J. Besemer (Anne) of Portland, Ore., David Besemer (Su) of South Bend and Linda Besemer of Los Angeles, Calif. Five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Michael, Elizabeth, Abigail and Andrew.
Mrs. Besemer was a longtime member of the Michiana Community Church of God.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2002, in the Weisheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 East Cleveland Road, with Rev. Brad Windian officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Friends may call in the funeral home from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God Missions.
