Henry was the father of five children inclduing: William Arthur, Myrta Jane, George Griffith and Henry Herbert McVey.
Henry and Caroline were married on October 7, 1868 in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana.
Henry was a Civil War Veteran. He enlisted from his home at Ottumwa, Iowa, as a Private, in Company L, 8th Iowa Cavalry on August 18, 1863 at age 18.
He was mustered out on August 13, 1865 in Macon, Georgia.
