Worth Bailey, 64, chiropractor, dies

Worth A. Bailey, 64, a chiropractor who has maintained a home and office at 841 Cleveland Drive since 1956, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at his home.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a lieutenant with the armored forces in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany.

Born in Michigan, Dr. Bailey received a degree from Western Michigan College of Education at Kalamazoo and taught five years before entering the Army.

After the war, he attended Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, and practiced in Texas from 1950 to 1956 before moving to Cheektowaga.

He is a former member of the board of directors of the Expressway YMCA and of Cheektowaga Lodge 1163, F & AM. He also belonged to international and state chiropractic organizations.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel Harte (corrected spelling) Bailey; three daughters, Mrs. Christine Tayntor of New Providence, N.J., Mrs. Catherine (corrected spelling) Bailey Marzahn of Buffalo, and Mrs. Judith Stumpf of Chicago; a son, William Bailey of Fort Worth, Texas, and three grandsons.

Services were scheduled for this morning at the Malzan Funeral Home, 1520 Kensington Ave.

Dr. Worth A. Bailey, 64, formerly of Eau Claire, died Nov. 15, in Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y.

Memorial services were held Thursday in the Marvin E. Malzan Funeral Home, Buffalo.

Dr. Bailey was a chiropractic doctor in Cheektowaga, N.Y. He was a graduate of Western Michigan University College of Education and taught elementary school for five years before joining the Army during World War II. After the war he attended Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. He was a member of the International Chiropractic Association, the New York State Chiropractic Association, and was a past member of the board of directors of the Expressway YMCA.

Survivors include: his wife, the former Mabel Handy (correct spelling is Harte) of Sodus; three daughters - Christine Tayntor of New Jersey, Catherine Bailey of Buffalo, and Edith Stump (correct spelling is Judith Stumpf) of Chicago, Ill.; one son, William of Texas; two brothers - G.P. of Eau Claire and Max of Adrian, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
