He was a chemical operator for Merck and Co. He served with the Army overseas during WWII, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton, Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292, and Blue Ridge Council No. 149 Jr. O.U.A.M. He was also a member of the Democratic Party and a committeeman for the 15th District.
