Della claimed a homestead on 320 acres about 20 miles SE of Frederick, OK, in June 1901. It was farmed for her by her brother-in-law Charles Hill. She still owned it at her death. It is now part of a wildlife preserve called Hackberry Flats. She served as a matron in the Red Moon Indian Boarding School in Custer County in western OK, until she was married there on Sunday, Oct 5, 1902, after publishing in the July 7-11, 1902 issue of the Journal of Proceedings and Addresses of the National Educational Assoc meeting in Minneapolis an article on "How to teach children to go ahead without being told." They lived in Enid, OK, for most of their lives.
