William M. BROWN, 1825-1862, was son of Joseph Brown, 1789-1840, and of his wife, Charity Cullum, 1792-1870.

William M. BROWN married Nancy A. DAVIS, born October 15, 1827, Cobb County, Georgia, died September 23, 1882, buried New Hope Cemetery, Dallas, Paulding County, Georgia, USA.

Nancy A. DAVIS, 1827-1882, was daughter of Reverend Benjamin George Gary, variant spelling, GARY, GEARY DAVIS, 1799-1875, and of his wife, Sarah 'Sallie' D. FLOYD, 1804-1888, both buried in the Davis-Hill Family Cemetery, located in Cobb County, Georgia.

On September 20, 1850, William M. BROWN was enumerated in the 1850 United States Federal Census Report, as 'William M.'; age 21; single; blacksmith; living with his widow mother, Charity, & sister, Malinda, age 10, in Div. 88, Walton Cty, GA, USA, 20 Sept. 1850. Roll: M432_86; Page: 19; Image: 40; # 260 / # 260.

On June 22, 1860, William M. BROWN was enumerated in the 1860 United States Federal Census Report, as 'William M'; age 32; married; blacksmith; living in GMD 1003, Dallas, Paulding Cty, GA, USA 22 Jun 1860. Roll: M653-133; Page: 722; Image: 332; # 109 / # 108.

To their marriage, six children are known, including:

"G. W. BROWN was the son of W. M. BROWN who was born in Walton County, about 1825, and died in 1862. His mother was Nancy, daughter of [Rev.] Geary DAVIS, a Methodist minister of Cobb County [Georgia, USA]. G. W. BROWN was born in Paulding County in 1857 where he was brought up amid the hardships indicent to an orphan boy during and following the lean years of the Civil War. In 1877, he married Ollie C., daughter of W. A. J. FREEMAN, a veteran of the Confederacy. He came to Walker County in 1890, living one year in East Armuchee, then moving to the Chestnut Flat District where he bought a farm and settle[d] near Catlett and resided there 24 years."
