Ernie is my Paternal Grandfather. His middle name 'Ardress' was given to him by his father who was an avid reader of dime novels! Ernie was born in a small little homestead of his Aunt Annie & Uncle Edwin Runk's homestead in Sentinel Butte was in Billings County, ND until 1912, then became Golden Valley County. Four of his siblings would be born there.
On his birth certificate it shows his father William Henry & Lottie Rose Davis Heiland Clark were living in Carlyle, Montana.
At the age of 5 his mother with 7 of the 8 children returned to KS, Labette & Cherokee Counties.
Ernie would finish HS in Freeport, IL he lived with his half brother Edgar Bryant Heiland. He would then meet his future wife.

Ernest A. Clark, 89 of Wickenburg, Ariz, formerly of Freeport, died Monday March 2, 1998, at Anza Convalescent Home in El Cajon, Calif.
Son of William and Lottie Rose (Davis) Clark he was born Jan. 8, 1909 in Beach, ND (*1) He and Anna Marie Thraen were married Nov 24, 1934, in Freeport. She died Feb. 23, 1988.
After graduating from Freeport High School in 1927, he was a sheet metal mechanic for Douglas Aircraft, and was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters.
Surviving him are one son, Virgil (Janice) (*2) his second wife* Clark of El Cajon: two granddaughters, Desiree Beth (Russell) Green of Kentucky (*3) and Laurette Jeanine (Jack)
Harriss of Congress, Ariz and two grandsons Adam Brent Clark and Eric Christopher Quinn (*4) both of El Cajon.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Elizabeth with the Rev. Ron Conro officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
