Rites Held Yesterday

Benson, Nov. 26 J. H. Rose, Sr. 58 prominent furniture dealer and undertaker of this city for more than a quarter of a century, died at his home here yesterday morning at 10:40 after a long illness. For months, he had been unable to carry on his work and a few weeks ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never rallied.
The deceased was a member of Mill Creek Christian Church in Bentonville township near his old home, but the funeral service was held in the Baptist Church here where he and members of his family had worshipped together there being no Christian church here, and the Rev. Forest Young, pastor of the Baptist church conducted the service. Interment was made in the city cemetery. The large crowd was ushered to seats in the church by Howard Denning, Danford Britt and Jesse McLamb. The lovely floral offering was carried by close friends of the family.
The active pallbearers were Wade Johnson, S. B. Lawhon, Dr. C. W. Sanders, Ralph Whittenton, Roby Porter and John Parrish.
Honorary pallbearers included: J. W. Whittenton, Dr. H. H. Utley, J. K. Boyette, J. M. Lawhon, Ralph Medlin, W. R. Strickland, M. D. Dorman, C. T. Johnson, J. E. Wilson, Chas. Johnson, H. O. The deceased is survived by his wife who before her marrieage was Miss Lillie Creech; by three sons and a daughter, William Rose of Wallace, J. H. Rose, Jr., Oliver Creech Rose and Carolyn Rose of this city.
He leaves also five brothers and a sister, Ira Rose of Chapel Hill; John Rose of Rocky Mount; Dr. Thurman Rose of the Virgin Islands, Lee and Albert Rose of Bentonville; and Mrs. Mary Blackman who lives near town.
