Eldest son of HH Prince Axel of Denmark and Princess Margaretha of Sweden. His paternal grandparents were Prince Valdemar of Denmark and Princess Marie d'Orleans. His maternal grandparents were Prince Carl, Duke of Västergötland, and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark.
He received extensive military training and served with distinction in World War II. In 1967, he became a Colonel and served as Defense Attaché to London and Military, Naval and Air Attaché at Paris. He was posted as an Air Attaché in Bern, Switzerland, and Defense Attaché to The Hague.
In 1950, he married Anne Bowes-Lyon, Viscountess Anson. She was the daughter of the Honourable John Herbert Bowes-Lyon and the former wife of Thomas Anson, Viscount Anson.
Georg and Anne had no children.
