John J. Wampler, a well known citizen, aged 76, died at 4:30 Monday at his home at 632 north Morton street, after an illness of several weeks with gripp and a complication of troubles. He was born in Westfield, Va., and most of his life has been spent in Monroe county. He was a life long member of the Methodist church and married Sarah Myers who with a large family of children mourn his death. The children are: Ephriam, Isaac, Joseph, Henry and George Wampler; Mrs. Rebecca Spitts of Vincennes; Mrs. Anna Seirp of Louisville; Mrs. Margaret Wilson of Montana; Miss Kate Wampler of Louisville; Mrs. Hattie May of this city, and Mrs. Ben Worley of Chicago. Funeral from the late residence at 1:30 Wednesday by Rev. McCollough, pastor of the Methodist church at Ellettsville; burial at Rose Hill.
