Born June 4, 1925, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Logan J. Whitener and the late Bertha Arndt Whitener. Mr. Whitener was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran.
In addition to his parents, three brothers, George, R.A. and Charles Whitener, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sisters, Patty Stallings of Newton, Virginia Corpening of Newton, Betty Travis of Catawba; a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Catawba United Methodist Church Cemetery in Catawba,
Burke Mortuary in Maiden is serving the Whitener family.
