He was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Sarah Farmer; a brother, Raymond Farmer; a sister, Claire Farmer; and a son, Andrew Jackson Farmer Jr. He was a deacon and member of Stone Mountain First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge of Stone Mountain, Order of the Eastern Star, Shrine, and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Farmer; sons, Marks A. Farmer of Thomasville, N.C., Morris W. and wife, Betty Farmer, of Forest Park, Ga., Daniel L. Farmer of Douglasville, Ga., J. Richard and wife, Rebekah Farmer Sr., of Snellville, Ga.; a sister, Frances Jones of Greer; grandchildren, Kenneth, Angela, Andrea, Teresa, Wanda, Delene and Joe Jr.; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006, in Stone Mountain First Baptist Church, with Dr. Dan Parker officiating. Mr. Farmer will lie in state one hour before service at the church. Interment, Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. Tributes may be placed at www.mem.com.
