pages 662 + 663 contains the following transcription for her tombstone which was done many years earlier when the tombstone was in one piece.
"Rebecca Huchel, born in Pennsylvania, moved to Trumbull Co., Ohio, and married to David McClung, then to John Bird and moved to Guernsey Co., thence to DeKalb Co., Indiana, in 1819, thence to Lawrence Co., Ill., where she died August 1874, aged about 82 years. Erected by her son, John Bird."
[Note: The tombstone today is broken in to two pieces. The second photo with the use of chalk allows the writing to be seen for the top half of the stone. The bottom half of the stone is behind it. Studying her life there appears to be a few minor transcription errors which include: her first husband's name was McClurg and the year they moved to Dekalb was more likely 1849 as opposed to 1819. She is buried near Abraham Waters (husband of Charlotte Bird). There is no stone on one side of Abraham most likely where Charlotte is buried and her tombstone is likely below the ground and would need to be excavated to be read. Possibly it has been preserved if under the ground. Picture #1 was taken some years ago by another volunteer and posted on a website as Rebecca-? unidentified tombstone in St. Paul Cemetery. Based on the closeups taken in more recent years and look of the stone, it can now be identified as Rebecca Hukill-Bird]

According to the 1860 and 1870 census records, Rebecca was born in Maryland. 1850 census says unknown. Her tombstone reads born in Pennsylvania. However, her brother William Hukill's obit who is born about 1800 and testifies in her pension states he was born in Maryland and the family moved to Mercer County when he was a boy. Another brother Stuart/Stewart/d testifies in her pension as well and is born about 1809 and census records state he was born in Pennsylvania. William's older children were also born in Pennsylvania so this appears to point to Mercer County, Pennsylvania which is next to Trumbull County, Ohio.

In August 1841 while living in Guernsey County, Ohio, Rebecca Hukill-Bird(wife of John Bird) applies for a pension for her first husband's service in the war against Great Britian. He served in 1812 came home and then left again in 1813 for the war and died in military service. Rebecca then applies again later and receives a pension. After her husband John Bird dies, she applies for an increase. Between her pension applications she states the following:

Her first marriage is to David McClurg on or about Mar 1809
Three children are born of this marriage
Alexander born 10 Jun 1811
Mary Anne born 29 Aug 1813 who is now married to Abraham Struble and both children are stated to be living in Guernsey County, Ohio in 1841
Third child's name is not stated but states they are born before David McClurg leaves for service and must be dead before 1841. It is stated David McClurg dies 1 Nov 1813 in Putin Bay by Lake Erie. Served under Captain Applegate who Rebecca's brothers stated they attended his funeral in Trumbull County, Ohio a few years after he returned from service.

Her second marriage is to John Bird on 1 April 1816 in Trumbull County, Ohio. John Bird dies on 13 Jan 1854 in Dekalb County, Indiana as stated in the pension application.

Her maiden name is again confirmed on her son Elliott Bird's second and third marriage records where it is spelled Hukill on one and appears to be spelled Hewkil on another. Two of Rebecca's brothers testify in her pension and they spell their name Hukill. One is William Hukill of Jefferson County, Ohio and the other is Stewart Hukill (1809-1892) of Hancock County, West Virginia and Jefferson County, Ohio.
