Final Rites For Elmer Andrews To Be Monday

Funeral services for Elmer L. Andrews, 62, who died suddenly late Friday evening in his home at 1602 W. Market-st, will be held at the residence Monday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Cornelius Nicholas Bakker, paster of the Market Street Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be J. D. Bayley, Gilson Dildine, Chalmers Brown, G. E. Pfeiffer, Seward Folsom and Homer Hughes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ed. Timmermeister, T. B. Greene, R. T. Gregg, A. S. Creps, T. C. McCrum, Kent Hughes, J. E. Grosjean and Walter Montgomery.

Andrews, who was a widely- known civil engineer connected with the oil industry in Lima and other regions for the past 35 years, died suddenly of heart disease, from which he had been suffering for several months. Altho forced to take a rest early in the year, he had resumed his duties and had been actively engaged up to the day of his death.

At the time of his death, he was civil engineer in charge of the northern pipe line division of the Standard Oil Co., his employer for the past 38 years.

He was a native of Lima and in his early life participated in architectural and engineering activities here. In 1899, he joined the Standard Oil Co., and was assigned with the National Transit division at Oil City Pa. Eight years in that location were followed with 10 years at Montpelier, Ind., with the Indiana Pipe Line Co., and in 1917 he returned to Lima and became associated with the Buckeye Pipe Line Co., where he served until his death.

Surviving him are his wife, Laura Douglas Andrews; two daughters, Mrs. H. J. Seymour of Tenafly, N.J., and Mrs. Joseph E. Woodson of Englewood, N.J.; two sons, E. Lawrence Andrews of Cleveland, O., and Douglas D. Andrews, at home; and four grandchildren, Martha, Mary and John Seymour of Tenafly, and Richard Andrews of Cleveland.

He was a member of the Market Street Presbyterian church where he had served as an elder for the past 12 years, taking an active part in affairs of the congregation. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory of Ft. Wayne, Ind.

The body was removed to the home Saturday evening from the Davis-Miller and Son Funeral home, which is in charge of funeral services.
