Harvey W. Gerhart, 85, of 320 South Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of the Denver and Reamstown area, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday afternoon, October 28, 2010 at Manor Care in Elizabethtown. Born in Denver, PA, he was the son of the late Carson and Ida Wealand Gerhart. He was the husband of the late Verna Sweigart Gerhart who died in November 2003.

Harvey was a member of Erb Mennonite Church in Lititz, PA and a former member of the former Vera Cruz Brethren in Christ Church in Blainsport, PA where he served as a custodian and an usher. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a custodian by the Conestoga Valley School District. Earlier in his life, he was employed as a truck driver by the former Long and Bomberger Company in Lititz and the former J.G. Baker Company in Manheim, PA. Harvey enjoyed speaking PA Dutch.

He is survived by five children, Lester S. Gerhart, Sr. of Lititz, Erma S. Miller of Lititz, Luke S. Gerhart of Manheim, Mervin S., husband of Linda Anderson Gerhart, of Marietta, PA, and Brenda S., wife of Clyde Metzler, of Manheim; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Norman W. Gerhart of Manheim. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ivan S. and Lamar S. Gerhart; and five siblings; Clarence, Melvin, Charles, and Elizabeth Gerhart, and Verna Goshert.

Family and guests are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Erb Mennonite Church, 567 West Lexington Road, Lititz, PA with Pastors Wesley D. Siegrist and Michael S. Zimmerman officiating. Following a luncheon in the fellowship hall of the church, interment will be in Memory Gardens, Denver, PA. The family will receive guests on Monday morning from 8:30 AM until the time of the service.
