Born in Grayson County on June 17, 1890, he was the son of Vol and Polly Allen Cockriel. / Surviving are his wife, Minta Kiper Cockriel; five sons, John Riley, Ezra Thomas, James, John Henry and Cecil Cockriel; four daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Sherrad (sic - Sherrod), Mrs. Nelly Stinnett, Mrs. Lela Wright and Mrs. Willa Marie Sials (sic - Silas); 33 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. / Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellis Chapel by Brother Carlie Ward. Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Tom S. Ellis.
