***************** Capt., Gordon C ( "Bud" ) Hill, USAF, my best friend. Bud's father was a col. in the Air Force. I first met Bud, at New Mexico State University in 1962, our first year in college. My father was a naval officer so we hit it off, from the start. We both were in Air Force, ROTC, together. Bud was somewhat of a hell raiser, a fighter pilot type from the very get-go and took me along, on many of his expeditions. We hunted, fished and flew light air planes, together all through college. Bud married while we were in college. (after graduation, Bud was Best Man at my wedding) In college, Julie & Bud, Gary & Dee, (my wife ) became best of friends. Bud was a fun loving devil-may-care type, afraid of nothing and always ready to try any thing, at least once. His one purpose in life was to become a fighter pilot. Upon graduation, we both, were commissioned, as 2nd Lieutenants and went into the Air Force.
Bud and Julie went to Big Springs, Texas, where Bud, started training as a pilot. I ended up in SAC, flying B52s, while Bud, went into TAC, flying back seat, in F-4Es. Both of us flew, in Vietnam and both of us, were stationed, in Thailand, though, at different bases.

On 30, June 1970, Capt., Mitchell D. Sadler and Fist Lieutenant, Gordon C. Hill, were flying, a weather, reconnaissance, mission, over, central laos. The last contact, with the crew, occurred, when Capt., Sadler, radioed the crew, of a nearby RF-4, aircraft and said, that they were leaving the area to rendezvous, with a refueling tanker.

At the time of their last radio contact the aircraft was believed to be Laos.

All subsequent efforts proved negative. Search and rescue forces, failed to locate, any sign, of the missing aircraft, or crew, Capt. Sadler and Lt. Hill are unaccounted for.

To this date, the crash site, has never been located, or any definite information, on either, of the pilots.
