Harold Edward "Ed" McClain was born November 4, 1921 and left this life peacefully early Sunday morning, October 24, 2010, at the age of 88. Ed was born and raised in Enid, Oklahoma. After graduating from Enid High School, he attended the Enid Business College. He then moved to Tulsa and joined the U.S. Navy, where he served as an aviation machinist mate in World War II until he was honorably discharged in November, 1945. While in the Navy, he met and married Virginia Mae Booher of Luther, Oklahoma, in a surprise wedding ceremony held by the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce on May 10, 1944. After Ed returned from the Navy, he was employed as a Budget Analyst for 25 years at Tinker Air Force Base. Ed and Virginia moved with their three children from Oklahoma City to Luther in 1961. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Luther and the Lion's Club. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harold D. McClain & Helen Borders Greathouse of Enid; and his sister, Helen Louise Sanders of Grove, OK. He leaves behind his wife, Virginia, of Luther; his son, Richard Jay McClain & wife Josephine of Alma, AR; daughter, Mary Beth McClain Wilson & husband Bruce of Luther, OK; and son, John Edward McClain & wife Rogena of Eufaula, OK; six grandchildren: Craig and Beth McClain of Edmond, OK; Kyle and Regina McClain of Knoxville, TN; Brian and Dawn Wilson, and Doug and Katrina Wilson, of Luther, OK; Adam McClain of Edmond; and Amanda McClain of Edmond; eleven great-grandchildren: Hailey, Cole, Keegan, Josie Marie, and Conner McClain; Carly, Jace, Reed, Peyton, Owen, and Mason Wilson, of Luther, OK. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Luther Cemetery on Hwy. 66 and Peebly Road.
