CHICKAMUAGA, GA - George Alvin Clopton, 60, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010, in a local hospital.

He is the son of the late George Alvin Clopton Sr., and Gladys Cleora Bazzell Clopton.

He was born and raised on a farm in Topeka, Kan.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and had retired a disabled veteran. He had lived in the Northwest Georgia area for the past 30 years. He was a member of Covenant Life Worship Center in Chickamauga. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and participating in politics on a local, state and federal level.

He was Foster Dad for Walker County.

He will be cherished and greatly missed by his beloved wife, Denise Clopton, of Chickamauga; daughters, Audra Brown, of Colorado, Ashley Fuller, of Cedartown, Ga.; sister, Betty Jo Clopton, of California; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Covenant Life Worship Center in Chickamauga, with Pastor Jamie Chant, the Rev. Jim Sailors, U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, State Senator Jeff Mullis, State Representative and Minister Jay Neal officiating.

Casey Magnusson, Keith Greene, John Culpepper, John Dickert, Chip Catlett and David Faulkner will serve as pallbearers.Don Howard, Tom Roberts, Bill Lancaster, Bill Grammer, Chad Jackson, Art Thompson, Damon Garrett, John Dixon, Jim Smallwood and Ken Marks will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Chattanooga Veterans National Cemetery.
