Dr. Everett Lamar Nace, a retired druggist of Charleston, died November 26, 1960 at the home of his sister in law, Miss Essie Derham of Green Sea. Mace was born in Marion County, Mar 11, 1889, a son of the late Stephen Gregg Mace and Mrs Julia Isola Ophillips Mace. He was a post master of Friendship Lodge No. 9, of Charleston, and honor graduate of School of Pharmacy of the Medical College of SC, class of 1912, a former member of board of firemasters; a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church, and one of the oldest practicing pharmacists in the state, having operated Mace pharmacy in Charleston for 39 years. He retired last summer. He married the former Miss Emma Frances Derham, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John P. Derham of Green Sea. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lt Col. J. S. Mace of Annadale, VA; two grandchildren, Stephanie Mace and John W. Mace. A nephew, Robert Mills of Myrtle Beach. Dr. Mace was a former chairman of the Charleston County Board of Voter Registration. He was appointed in 1949.
