"Rites Held Saturday For A. B. Foster"
A. B. Foster, long time resident of Wagoner County and also served as county comissioner from the Coweta District, died last Wednesday night at Vineta, Oklahoma following a long illness.
Bee, as he was known to many of his friends, was born November 28, 1876 in Green County, Missouri to John and Maggie Foster, both deceased. He departed this life at Vinita, Oklahoma December 14, 1949 at the aged of 73 years and 16 days.
He came to Indian Territory at the aged of twelve and made his home with an Indian family by the name of Pole Childers. He grew to manhood in their home and often related many interesting stories about the Indian Territory before it became a state. He served as Wagoner County Commissioner for nine years.
He was united in marriage to Joanna Byrd inK
January 1910. She preceded him in death last year.
He is survived .by four children: Charlie of Houston, Texas; Clyde of Oakland, California; Bert of Coweta, Oklahoma; and Rubye Johnson of Bellaire, Texas; four grandchildren; one step daughter Leona Sarty of Coweta, Oklahoma; one brother, Earnest Foster of Texas; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends, who will miss him.
Funeral service were held Saturday afternoon at the First Methodist Church in Coweta with Rev. Orville Parham officiating.
Burial was made in Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
