Actor. He will be best remembered for his role as 'Boy' in eight pictures of the "Tarzan" film series from the late 1930s and 1940s. He also played the title role in the "Bomba" film series. The son of character actor Reginald Sheffield, he had his professional acting introduction at age seven on Broadway in the production "On Borrowed Time" in 1938, and made his film debut opposite Johnny Weissmuller, in the MGM picture "Tarzan Finds a Son" (1939, selected from 300 boys for the part). He began the "Bomba" series with "Bomba, the Jungle Boy" (1949), and concluded his film career with "Lord of the Jungle" (1955). Among his other movie credits include "Babes in Arms" (1940), "Little Orvie" (1940) and "Knute Rockne All American" (1940). He attended UCLA, from where he received a Business degree, and worked in the real estate industry, as well as a contractor. He died from a heart attack.
