Born on July 29, 1905, in Marshall County, he was the son of Fred and Susie Dimmit Paxson. He received his education in the Albion schools, graduating with the Class of 1924.
On June 1, 1929, at Albion, he was married to Hazel Reiss. They made their home in Marshalltown, where he was employed with Fisher Controls as a machine operator until his retirement in 1969.
During World War II he served with the U.S. Army.
Preceding him in death were two brothers.
Surviving besides his widow of the Iowa Veterans Home are one son and three daughters, Richard Paxson, Mary Jo Albee, and Peggy Weuve, all of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Bonnie Mitchell, Cedar Falls; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter Paxson of Gilman.
