Son of Sam Houston Clement and Mary Register Pope. He married Helen Ware Daniel in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama on June 28, 1929. Sam and Helen then moved to St. Louis, Missouri where they raised two daughters - Nancy Helen Clement Cornwell and Elizabeth Daniel Clement Owens.
