Myrtle Iva Griffin Dowell, 88, who made her home with her son, William Dowell, at 4434 W CR 600 S, died at 8:45 AM, Monday, March 29, 1993 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. Born Jan. 3, 1905 in Nashville, IN, she came to Tippecanoe County in 1927. She married Roy Dowell Jan. 4, 1923 in Nashville, IN; he died Aug. 21, 1982. He was a retired farmer, and she was a homemaker. Surviving are four sons, Albert L. Dowell, Delbert R. Dowell, William D. Dowell and Donald W. Dowell, all of Lafayette; and eight daughters, Helen (Mrs. Charles) Berninger, Mae (Mrs. Donald) Clouse, Mary (Mrs. Lamont) Ritchie, Kate (Mrs. James) Wright, Carol (Mrs. Arne) Nangle, Judy (Mrs. James H.) Riddle, all of Lafayette; Thelma (Mrs. Everette) Venable of West Lafayette, and Linda (Mrs. Arthur) Bilyeu of West Point. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Betty Lou Dowell, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters, preceded her in death. Service in Hippensteel Chapel, March 31, the Rev. Dick Girton officiating; internment Montmorenci Cemetery.
