Dorothy I. Abbott, age 81, of S. Poplar St., Jefferson, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2016, at her residence.
She was born April 4, 1935, in Dayton, the daughter of Earl P. and Alice (DeHaven) Dearing and had been a resident of this area most of her life.
When her eye sight was better she enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. She was a demolition derby fan and when in her 40's won the demolition derby at the county fair.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina R. Grose of Ashtabula; and a brother, Norrell (Barbara) Dearing of Austinburg Township.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Abbott; a son, Jeffrey Abbott in March; a grandson, Kevin Beebe in 2011; and two sisters, Wanda Abbott and Nadene Hounshell.
Private services will be held Tuesday at the JEFFERSON HOME OF FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
