MONTEREY - Esther M. Bennett, 85, homemaker and retired teacher, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
Born in Sacramento, CA on March 21, 1925, Esther was the youngest daughter of Elaine Haynes Larson and Frank Gustave Larson. She attended Sacramento schools, graduating from Sacramento State College with a credential in elementary education.
She taught for several school districts, including: Sacramento, San Rafael and the Monterey Peninsula Unified, where she skillfully guided the learning of hundreds of students at Monte Vista and Del Rey Woods elementary schools.
Esther enjoyed recounting the adventures she shared with her brothers and sisters, Melvin, Gladys, Oxel and Thelma, while growing up in pre-WWII Sacramento and was ever proud of her Scandinavian heritage.

At her request, no services will be held. The family wishes to extend its thanks to Darlene Jackson and to the nurses on Main West and Terrance West for their kindness and compassion in her care.
Those wishing to honor Esther's memory are asked to make donation to the charity of their choice.
