Services for J.M. George were held in the Pentecostal Church of God on Burkburnett Road. George, whose full name was Henry Mitchell Jefferson James John George, would have been 102 years old on March 1st. He had spent most of his life around livestock. He was 19 at the time the Civil War broke out. During the War, he was stationed at Camp Belknap and Camp Cooper. On patrol, he had brushes with the Indians but was never hurt. After the War, Mr. George returned to cow punching in Stephens County. He married Miss Nancy Souard, owner of the TO Ranch. The couple had been married 64 years. Mr. George lived in Frederick, Oklahoma for a time and moved to Wichita Falls in 1915. He was employed by the City of Wichita Falls and later worked for the M-K-T Railroad. Survived by his wife; two sons; - Joseph John George and Wyatt William George; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
