Arthur Alexander TELFORD was born near Cartter, IL in 1869, the 8th of 9 children of Samuel G TELFORD & Mary (BALDRIDGE) TELFORD.

Arthur worked as a school teacher in Iowa for a short time, then he worked as a farmer in Iowa and rural Kell, IL the remainder of his working days.

Arthur was the father of a daughter Edna born in 1890 in Cartter, IL. He married Mary A HOOVER in 1892 in Iowa and they had a son Ross A TELFORD in 1895, after which they divorced in about 1899. Arthur served in the Army in Cuba during the Spanish-American War in 1898-99. After the war he moved back to Cartter, IL and married Katherine "Kit" MAFFITT in 1901. They moved to a farm in rural Kell, IL and then had three daughters: Leta born in 1902, Alice born in 1904, and Irene born in 1905.

Late in life, Arthur was a resident of the Soldiers & Sailors Home in Quincy, IL where he passed away in 1954.
