Mrs. Brown was a Buncombe County native and was a daughter of the late Mitchell Grover Wilson and Clora Martin Wilson.
She was the wife of Carter F. Brown, who died in 1998, and was also preceded in death by her six siblings, Amy, Olson, Unavee, Homer, Pearl and Carlos.
Mrs. Brown was a 1935 graduate of Leicester High School.
She grew up in Turkey Creek Baptist Church and was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, served as church organist and was member and former president of the UMW.
She is survived by her son, C. Dennis Brown and his wife, Linda, of Leicester; two granddaughters, Kristi Brown and Lori Brown, both of Candler; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Jody B. Campbell and Fred E. Carpenter officiating.
Interment will follow at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery.
