George A. Calhoun, 63, of Middletown, CT, passed away at his home after battling cancer on Sunday (September 12, 2010) with his wife by his side. He was the loving husband of Janet (Bonaiuto) Calhoun for eleven years.
He was born in Middletown on December 11, 1946, the son of the late Albert F., Sr. and Frances S. (Carlson) Calhoun, and lived in Middletown all his life.
A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1964, George's hobbies included bowling, horseshoes, and woodworking, for which he won numerous trophies and awards at the Durham Fair. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and the UCONN Huskies.
George served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, and friend.
In addition to his wife, Janet, and her daughter, Kelli Cauffman and husband Christopher of West Hartford, he is survived by his sister, Lorraine Moffatt of Brooksville, FL, his brother, Carl Calhoun of Middletown, his sister, Joan and her husband, John Rawlings of San Diego, CA, his sister, Ethel Konesky of Portsmouth, NH, his brother, Edward and his wife Carolyn of Granby, as well as his sister-in-law, Frances Calhoun of Middletown and brother-in-law David Howell of Harbor Bluffs, FL. He is predeceased by his brother, Albert Calhoun of Middletown and his sister, Florence Howell of Harbor Bluffs, FL. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Annette (Bonaiuto) Volpe, his brother-in-law, Vincent Bonaiuto and his wife, Joyce, his dear friend Ralph Eldridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Burial Services with full military honors accorded will be held in the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown, CT on Saturday (September 25, 2010) at 10:00 a.m.
