Elmer E. Morris a Repubican candidate for county
collector is a native of Indiana, having
been born there in 1861. He came to Jasper
county and settled on a farm in 1870, where
he remained till the spring of 1881. During
this time he received a good comon school
education, attending the city schools of
Sarcoxie in 1881, after which he taught school.
He then completeted a course in the Marionville
Business College and once more took up the
role of school teacher until 1887, when he engaged
in mercantile business in Sarcoxie.
Mr. Morris is an active, progressive young
man of excellent business habits and character -
one whom no tax payer need fear to vote for
or to entrust with the responsibilities of the
office of county collector. Being unmarried he may
prove quite a "catch" for some nice Jasper
county girl, especially after he wins his office,
as he surely will....

He married Laura M. Stuckey 17 Sept 1896 in
Carthage, Missouri.
