Joe Fate Strickland, 87, of Harrison, passed away Friday, Sept. 3 (2010) at Harrison Hospice House.

He was born April 20, 1923, at Branson, Mo., the son of William Albert and Ollie Alberta (McEntire) Strickland.

He worked as a car salesman since 1949 and had retired. He was a 50-year member of the Boone Masonic Lodge No. 314 and a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church.

Joe loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his life-long love of 64 years, Florence Strickland of the home; two sons, Billy Joe Strickland and wife, Ann Sanders Strickland, of Western Grove and David Strickland and his wife, Deborah, of Harrison; a daughter, Kim Smithyman and her husband, Mike, of Harrison; three grandchildren, Blake Strickland and wife Kim, and Zach and Matthew Smithyman, who were the apple of his eye and they loved their Pappa Joe. Also surviving are many nieces and The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Rev. Robert Shaddox officiating. Burial will be in Mapelwood cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and family members. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harrison Hospice House.
