Lu Anne was born in Danville, VA but she was a life long resident of Rockingham County. She recently retired from the State of North Carolina where she served as the Assistant Clerk of Court. Upon her retirement, she was recognized with "The Order of The Long Leaf Pine" award, one of the highest honors given to a state employee. Lu Anne also served as the Past President of the North Carolina Clerk's Association. She was a longtime and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder. She was also a leader for the Presbyterian Pilgrimage. People were drawn to Lu Anne, and many considered her their "best friend" or an extension of their family. When she walked in, the whole room would light up with her presence and friendship! She loved life, people and animals, especially, horses.
