"Ocean Springs News' Saturday, March 14, 1914:
L.W. Armstrong, the brother of the late John Armstrong of this city, and himself a life-long resident of Jackson County, MS died last Tuesday, March 10th at the home of his son in Lacomb, La. where he went some time ago for a visit. Mr. Armstrong was 65 years of age. The cause of his death was paralysis. The body was brought to this city from Lacomb Wednesday night and taken to home of H.L. Armstrong from which place the funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. W.D. Mathis, pastor of the Baptist church. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Tom Armstrong, as he was familiarly known by hundreds over Jackson County, made his home on a farm near Fontainebleau, where he lived, prospered and reared a large family. He was a man of rugged honesty and integrity and enjoyed to a large degree the respect and confidence of everyone. He leaves a wife and seven children - four boys and three girls - to mourn his passing to whom the sympathy of many old friends and neighbors will be extended in their hour of sorrow.
