PILOT -- Leslie "L.G." Gardner Alford, Jr., 75, of 147 Pilot Bypass Road, died Thursday morning at his home.
He was born in Wake County, son of the late Leslie Gardner Alford, Sr. and Printice P. and Wayne Smith. Mr. Alford was a retired surveyor Field Inspector and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Warren Carroll, Josephine C. Allen, Joe W. Carroll, Ann A. Atkins, Kirby Alford and Jessy A. Howell.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Lewis Alford; daughter, Karen A. Montanez of Tallahassee, FL; sisters, Joyce Floyd of Clayton and Sue S. Cooke of Raleigh; several nieces and nephews.
Flowers accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's St., Raleigh, NC 27605.
The family will receive friends 7:00 8:30 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 West Third Street, Wendell and other times at the home.
