Destitute and ill, Rebecca Elzina Ashby Keith Bedwell Ashby spent her last months in the Missouri Confederate Home in Higginsville, Lafayette County, Missouri. She was married three times and had four known children.

Rebecca's first husband was Solomon E. Keith. They were married on 6 October 1859 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. This union produced three children Nolin O., Mary (Mrs. W.A. Wray) and Ella (Mrs.Joel Anderson Pitts).

Her second marriage was to Jesse Major Bedwell on 7 October 1875 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. They had one son Cleophas Ashby Bedwell.

The third marriage was to a cousin Elias Wilson Ashby. Her qualification for the Confederate Home was based on his CSA service.

Her cause of death was given as heart disease complicated by alzheimers. She is buried in her sister's Kimes family plot.
