Darlene Mae Rogers DeGroot,the daughter of Lloyd and Charlotte Thrash Harbour Rogers. She was born August 24,1937,in Mahaska County. She graduated from the Oskalossa High School with the class of 1955. Following high school she worked as a nurse's aide at the old Mercy Hosptial in Oskaloosa. On February 10,1957,she was united in marriage to Kenneth DeGroot at Fort Smith,Arkansas. Following their marriage,they lived in Colorado Springs,Colorado and later Augusta,Georgia. When Kenneth was discharged from the military they returned to Rose Hill,Iowa.Upon their return,Darlene stayed home to care for her husband and family. After her children were grown she started taking care of elderly people in their homes. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa and enjoyed growing flowers,cross stitch and needlesork,collecting chicken statues,traveling,cooking and reading. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

On Saturday,March 27,2010,Darlene went to be with the Lord at the age of 72 years,7 months,and 3 days.

Darlene family included her husband of over 53 years,Kenneth DeGroot of Rose Hill, a daughter and her husband; Darla Denise DeGroot(and Roy Sams)of Des Moines,four sons; Kevin Wayne DeGroot of Long Beach,California,Bryan Lloyd(& Besty)DeGroot of Oskalosa, Todd Bruce DeGroot and Damon Joel DeGroot both of Rose Hill;ten grandchildren; Carie Lynn,Leshia Renee, Ashleigh Darlene,Brandon Lloyd,Ciara Nicole,Justin Wayne,Shaauntel Denise,Ariana Michelle,Sara Diane and Heidi Jo, four great grandchildren; Conner Michael,Adriana Raquel,Nicolas Ryan,and Kenneth John and two sisters,Eileen (&James) Wyllie of Iowa City,and Jean Stein of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter,Marcia Lynn DeGroot.a brother,Richard Rogers ansd a sister June Accord.
