The Rev. Robert Lynch will officiate at the services at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home for Vernon J. Rau, 63, of Box 292, Fort Seneca. Burial will be in the Pleasant Union Cemetary, Old Fort. Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Basic Quarter Century Club will conduct a service there at 8 p.m. Mr. Rau, a retired Basic employee, was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital Wednesday morning, March 3, 1982. His death was caused by an apparent heart attack while he was driving on North Sandusky Street near the Kennedy Bridge. He was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Seneca County to David and Nina (Baker) Rau. In 1941, he married Anita Hersh, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Richard of Tiffin, Mrs. Robert (Barbara Jean) Reinhart of rural Tiffin, Ronnie Lee, Diana and Steven Rau, all of Fort Seneca; four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Sager, Mrs. Casper (Beulah) Sours, both of Tiffin, Betty Patterson of Fort Seneca and Virginia Mackling in Kentucky; and four grandchildren. Mr. Rau was a member of the Fort Seneca United Methodist Church, the Basic Quarter Century Club and the Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Old Fort School and was a veteran of World War II.
