DUNCAN — Jan. 5, 1921 — Aug. 7, 2011

Betty Lucille (Hayes) Cowan-Wooten, 90, of Duncan passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at her home in Duncan.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Victory Baptist Church with Russell Tuck officiating. Interment will be in the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Betty was born Jan. 5, 1921, at Willis Point, Texas, the daughter of Willis Cleveland and Eunice Birdie (Lee )Hayes. She and O.E. "Preacher" Cowan were married Jan. 6, 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She and Glenn Wooten were married September 12, 1964, at Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church and loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, six sisters and one son, Richard Cowan.

Survivors include husband, Glenn D. Wooten of Duncan; two step-sons: Donnie Ray Wooten and James W. Wooten, both of Duncan; a daughter Marilyn J. Abernathy of Duncan; three sisters: Lela Rayburn and Joy Foster, both of Duncan, and Francis Smith of Moorehead, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Wooten, Donnie Wooten, Allen Wooten, Ed Schuller, Ray Hale and Micheal Nicholson.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chisholm Trail Hospital.
